C&D Merchandise Attends the 2026 Gulangyu Forum Event “Building a Green Future, Harnessing Innovation in Xiamen”

On September 7, the 2026 Gulangyu Forum event themed “Building a Greener Future, Harnessing Xiamen’s Innovation”, an important supporting event of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), was held at Xiamen International Exhibition Center. Under the theme “Shaping a Sustainable Future for Cities: Vision, Innovation and Practice,” the event brought together participants to exchange views on pathways for green urban transformation from a global perspective. At the event, the launch of innovative cases on the high-value utilization of coffee waste and the development of an industry standard for carbon footprint assessment of coffee grounds recycling were held simultaneously. Through technological innovation, these practices have enabled coffee grounds to be transformed from waste into recycled materials and applied innovatively in areas including water purification, consumer products, and sustainable agriculture. Representatives from the Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences; C&D Merchandise; Carbon Technology; the Coffee Bean Branch of the China Fruit Distribution Association; Xiamen Deep Blue Sustainable Development Innovation Research Center; National Carbon Metrology Center (Fujian) and other organizations jointly launched the development of an industry standard for carbon footprint assessment of coffee grounds recycling, working together to advance the recycling of coffee grounds from technological practice toward standardization and industrialization.

The establishment of the carbon footprint standard provides a unified standard for the recycling of coffee grounds, making green value measurable, comparable, and tradable, while providing a replicable industry model for the green and low-carbon transformation of the coffee industry. C&D Merchandise will take this as an opportunity to draw on its global sourcing resources and professional supply chain operations capabilities, put ESG principles into practice, deepen upstream and downstream collaboration, and actively explore green initiatives across the industry. It will work to make green development a “required course” for the entire industrial chain rather than an “elective course” for individual companies, contributing to China’s “dual carbon” goals and promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of the industry.
