C&D Logistics Facilitates the Launch of the Longest Direct Shipping Route in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River

Date: 2024-12-03 | Source:C&D Inc.

On November 30, the first international bulk cargo liner route in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, jointly designed and implemented with the participation of C&D Logistics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of C&D Inc. (600153.SH), officially commenced operations. The route adopts the sea-river combined transport mode to direct Wuhan, which is the farthest direct route opened in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, opening up the import trade channel of nickel-related products, the key raw materials of the circular economy industry chain.

At 8 a.m. on the launch day, a cargo vessel carrying pale green MHP (mixed hydroxide precipitate) completed its 6,600-kilometer journey from Indonesia’s Labota Port to Yangluo Port. Previously, MHP shipments to China relied on traditional sea-land intermodal transportation, requiring unloading at coastal ports and subsequent overland transit to Hubei province, which was time-consuming and costly. In response to the client’s request for a direct round-trip service from Labota to Yangluo, C&D Logistics leveraged its supply chain expertise to design a "point-to-point" sea-river intermodal solution, enabling uninterrupted transport with a single vessel. The implementation was managed by C&D Logistics (Qingdao) Co., Ltd.

To address client pain points, C&D Logistics dispatched professional teams to Indonesia and Hubei for on-site surveys, refining transportation plans and overcoming technical challenges such as Yangtze River water level restrictions, bridge height limits in Wuhan, and the complexities of sea-river transitions. The team also facilitated pre-declaration processes to ensure a smooth maiden voyage.

The new route eliminates the need for transshipment at out-of-province ports and cross-provincial land transportation, saving clients nearly a week in transit time, reducing logistics costs, and improving customs clearance efficiency. This achievement highlights C&D Logistics’ strengths in supply chain management, international shipping, and logistics optimization. Looking ahead, C&D Logistics will continue to uphold its brand philosophy of "Together Go Beyond", creating sustainable value for global partners through innovative supply chain solutions.
